
Associate Professor of Government Carol Drogus presented a paper on religious movements, civil society and political participation in Latin America at a workshop sponsored by the Kellogg Institute for International Studies at the University of Notre Dame. The workshop, held on Oct. 2-3, was titled Contemporary Challenges to Catholicism in Latin America, and focused on the Catholic Church's attempt to find its role amid changing trends in the region. The event "aims to help establish a research agenda on the theme of comparative religion, politics and society in Latin America", and covered such topics as globalization, religious movements, Protestant challenges, Church politics, and religion in media and schools.
