Eighth Edition of Gilbert’s Text on Class Inequality Published

The eighth edition of Professor of Sociology Dennis Gilbert’s The American Class Structure in an Age of Growing Inequality has been published by Sage Publications.

Reference and Research Book News wrote that the textbook “reviews classic research studies on class inequality in the U.S. through the variables of occupation, wealth, income, poverty, prestige, association, socialization, social mobility, power, and class consciousness. Gender and race are discussed in relation to class. This edition incorporates updated data on income, wealth, earnings, occupation, poverty, class segregation in residential patterns,and politics, and emphasizes the rising inequalities since the mid-1970s. It includes new material on college admissions and other topics.”
