Associate Professor of History John Eldevik presented a paper recently at the 53rd International Congress on Medieval Studies, which met May 9-13 at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo.
Eldevik's paper, "Memory and Politics in the Archdiocese of Salzburg: the Gesta Archiepiscoporum Salisburgensium, their Manuscripts, and their Editors" examined the commemoration of Salzburg's archbishops in the Middle Ages in several monastic foundations across Bavaria, and showed that the texts and contexts of episcopal memory evolved a striking "global" Christian perspective in the second half of the 12th century.
