Tim Elgren, associate dean of the faculty, travelled to Washington, D.C., on Jan. 11, to chair a review panel for Merck and the American Association for the Advancement of Science, who jointly sponsor an Undergraduate Science Research Program.

Primarily undergraduate institutions are invited to apply for awards which support undergraduate research opportunities at the interface of biology and chemistry.  Up to 15 awards are made to institutions, providing $20,000 annually for three years.

Hamilton College is currently in the third year of a Merck/AAAS award. Elgren is serving a three year term on this review panel.
