The Emerson Gallery will host several events in October related to the two current exhibitions, "Native Perspectives: George Longfish and Shelley Niro" and "WPA Arists: Prints from the Amity Arts Foundation." These shows and related events are free and open to the public. Both exhibitions will be open through Dec. 30.

"WPA Artists: Prints from the Amity Art Foundation" features 30 prints produced by artists who worked within the printmaking programs of the Federal Arts Project of the Works Projects Administration.  Alumnus John A. Stewart, who curated the show, will discuss the WPA's Federal Arts Project and its influence on American printmaking.

"Native Perspectives" features nine new and recent works by contemporary First Nations artists Shelley Niro (Mohawk) and George Longfish (Seneca / Tuscarora).  Niro will speak on Tuesday, Oct. 17, and George Longfish will speak on Tuesday, Oct. 24.  Both artists talks will be held in the Science Center Auditorium at 4:15 p.m. and will be followed by a reception in the Emerson Gallery.
