Visiting Assistant Professor of Africana Studies Crystal Leigh Endsley was invited to perform as a featured artist at the gallery space AAI in Philadelphia on Oct. 21.  Her spoken word performance took place as part of a series titled “Family Style” which was initiated as a community outreach cultural arts program designed to foster dialogue among communities of color in Philadelphia.  Endsley’s performance centered on themes of identity and achieving unity through social justice.

Other featured artists include musicians Nui and Jason, poet Marco Mercado and author Ed Bok Lee.  Students from Drexel University, Temple University, Chestnut Hill and local community college poetry performance groups attended and also shared their work.
