Fall Sports Wrap Up

As November wraps up, we take a look back at the Continentals’ fall seasons, highlighted by the field hockey team's advancing to the second round of the NCAA Division III championship. Here’s a look at some of photographer Josh McKee’s favorite action shots from the fall.

Memorable field hockey season ends in NCAA championship second round

Nationally ranked No. 12 Hamilton (12-6) finished its best season under head coach Missy Mariano and ended up just one win short of the program record (The Continentals went 13-3 in 2010). Hamilton fell to Wesleyan University in the second round of the NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championships at Babson College on Nov. 15. In the previous game, Sammy Higgins ’26 scored a little less than two minutes into the second sudden-victory overtime to lift Hamilton to a 2-1 win against the SUNY Geneseo Knights in the first-round, hosted at Goodfriend Field.

Field hockey players collect all-NESCAC team honors

Three Hamilton athletes were selected for the 2025 New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Field Hockey All-Conference Team. Defender Isabelle Nahon ’27 was voted to the first team, and midfielder captains Sammy Higgins ’26 and Lilly Truchon ’26 made the second team.

Harris ’26 to compete in NCAA cross country championship

Taylor Harris ’26 was selected to compete in the 2025 NCAA Division III Women’s Cross Country Championship. The men’s and women’s championships will be held at the Roger Milliken Center in Spartanburg, S.C., on Nov. 22. The women’s race begins at 11 a.m.

A total of 32 teams and 70 individuals were selected to participate based on their performance in each of the 10 regional races held on Nov. 15. Harris finished fifth out of 163 runners with a 6-kilometer time of 21:57.7 at the Niagara Regional Championship held at Genesee Valley Park in Rochester, N.Y.

Two women earn all-region cross country recognition

Taylor Harris ’26 and Emily Pogozelski ’26 earned U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region distinction for the 2025 NCAA Division III cross country season. Harris earned all-region cross country honors all four years while Pogozelski collected her second award.

Harris led the Continentals at the Niagara Regional Championship by finishing fifth, and Pogozelski landed at 20th with a time of 22:36.4. Any athlete who finished in the top 35 at one of the 10 regional championship sites on Nov. 15 and is from a USTFCCCA member institution is eligible for all-region.

Five men earn all-region recognition in cross country

The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region honored five Continentals for their performance during the 2025 NCAA Division III men’s cross country season. Jack Quinn ’27 collected his second all-region award. Brady Armstrong ’28, Jeremy Bywater ’27, Liam Card ’27, and Drew Richardson ’26 are all-region for the first time.

Card led Hamilton to fourth place at the Niagara Regional by finishing 21st out of 189 runners with an 8-kilometer time of 25:52.6. Richardson ended up in 26th place with a personal-record time of 26:03.6. Quinn was 29th in 26:06.6, and Bywater followed close behind in 31st place and a personal-best time of 26:07.3. Armstrong rounded out the Continentals’ top five in 34th place with a time of 26:12.6.

Two women’s soccer players named to NESCAC all-conference team

Midfielder Sarah Flood ’27 and forward Isabel Harvey ’28 were selected for the 2025 NESCAC Women's Soccer All-Conference Team. Both players were voted to the second team by the conference’s head coaches. Harvey also made the second team in 2024, while Flood collected her first all-NESCAC team honor.

QB Kurzum ’27 selected for all-NESCAC team

Football quarterback Luke Kurzum ’27 was selected for the 2025 NESCAC Football All-Conference Team.

Kurzum, who was voted to the second team offense, was the 2023 NESCAC Rookie of
the Year. He’s one of three quarterbacks on the all-conference team.

Kurzum was second in the conference with 198 completions and 2,242 yards (249.1 per game), and third with 14 touchdown passes. He threw just five interceptions in 332 attempts. Kurzum also ran for 324 yards and led the NESCAC in total offense with 285.1 yards per game. He started all nine games for the 2-7 Continentals.
