The work of Associate Professor of Art Ella Gant is being exhibited by the Bruno David Gallery in St. Louis in a one-person show titled "mother choo choo" through Jan. 12, 2008. Featured in the gallery's New Media Room, Gant's series of short videos are centered on the principle that, in her words, "awareness of our own experience can inspire social consciousness, political responsibility, cultural interaction and changed behavior."
According to the gallery, Gant's "knowledge of history and theory combine with her long-standing relationship with photography, video, performance, electronic arts, and digital media to result in works that address the identity, sexuality, subjectivity, reality, and ephemerality." Gant, who is also chair of the art department, has had her work featured in solo and group exhibitions nationwide. The Bruno David Gallery is located at 3721 Washington Boulevard in the heart of the Grand Center Arts District in St. Louis, Mo.
