Professor of Classics Barbara Gold is part of a group that has received a grant from the Teagle Foundation. The grant is titled "A Longitudinal Study of Critical Thinking and Postformal Reasoning: Assessing Undergraduate Outcomes within Disciplinary Contexts." The $215,899 grant will fund a three-year longitudinal study designed to measure the development of undergraduate student outcomes in two fields: classics and political science.
 
Gold is on the faculty advisory board for classics with four colleagues from Williams, Skidmore, Rhodes and the University of Pennsylvania. The project is headed by Rachelle Brooks, director at the Center for Data Collection and Analysis, College Sports Project, Northwestern University.

According to its Web site the Teagle Foundation "provides leadership for liberal education, marshalling the intellectual and financial resources necessary to ensure that today's students have access to challenging, wide-ranging and enriching college educations."
