Marc C. David, assistant dean of students for multicultural student affairs, presented at the National Conference on Race and Ethnicity (NCORE) held in Miami, Fla., on June 1-5. The title of the presentation was "Greek Letter Alternatives: The Search for Brotherhood and Sisterhood in Emerging Multicultural Student Organizations."

The presentation explored some of the alternative student organizations that have emerged at the nation's top 100 liberal arts colleges, particularly on campuses where there is a dissatisfaction with Greek life, limited options for Greek societies, or the absence of Greek letter organizations altogether.

The presentation concluded with a panel discussion by members of three Hamilton student organizations: Kris Rios '05 of Brothers, Jackie Kook '05 of the Intercultural Womyn's Empowerment Series, and Nathaly Francois '04 of Sustah Girl.

David has presented at the past three NCORE conferences. Previous presentations have included "Protest 101: Lessons Learned from Forty Years of Student Activism," and "Searching for Social Space: The Rebirth of the Afro Latin Cultural Center."
