Shelley P. Haley, professor of classics and Africana studies, will present a talk titled “Cleopatra: From African Queen to Liz Taylor,” on Wednesday, Feb. 10, at 7:30 p.m., at the Other Side in Utica. This is the sixth event in the Imagining America collaboration between Hamilton College and The Other Side.
Although Cleopatra was a minor player on the broad stage of world history, we continue to be fascinated by her. Haley will explore the reasons for our continuing fascination and show that our views are not very different from those held by the ancient Roman male elite.
The Other Side is located at 2011 Genesee St. in Utica, across from the Uptown Theater and next to the Cafe Domenico. Parking is available, and admission is free.
