Nearly 300 students registered to vote and completed absentee ballot requests on Tuesday, Aug. 26, as a result of the efforts of Hamilton Engage 08. Focused on facilitating student voter registration and absentee ballot application and on providing resources for students to be able to make informed decisions on election day, Hamilton Engage 08 will hold voter registration drives through the last state registration deadlines in early October. The group has also launched a blog, http://engage08.hamiltoncollegeblogs.com, and will host a series of voter forums and special events.

"We named our campaign 'Engage' because engagement is the core of our goals: to engage students in the 2008 election, to promote engagement on campus among students of all political and ideological persuasions and to encourage students to commit to a lifetime of civic and political engagement," said Kevin Rowe '10, one of the group's founders.

Two local television stations, NBC-affiliate WKTV and all news cable station News10Now, have reported on the group's success in registering students. The stations also interviewed several students on their views on the presidential candidates and the party conventions.
