Hamilton in France Program students recently visited the Palais des Papes in Avignon, France. The Palais des Papes was home to nine popes during the 14th century, and remains the largest Gothic palace in Europe. Students observed the impressive palace constructed out of limestone native to southern France.

The visit also included a tour of the Papal Chamber finely decorated with painted walls, the Stag Room adorned with frescos of hunting and fishing scenes, and the brightly colored lapis-lazuli frescos of the palace chapels.

The $400 million campaign marked the most ambitious fundraising initiative in the College's history.
