Associate Professor of Government Robert Martin will join other Alexander Hamilton scholars and authors on a panel presentation on Thursday, Jan. 11, as part of the first Alexander Hamilton Symposium at the Museum of American Finance in New York City. The event is part of the museum's commemoration of the 250th birthday of Alexander Hamilton, our nation's first U.S. Secretary of the Treasury.

Celebrated in association with the Smithsonian Institution, the presentation will start at 5:15 p.m. at the museum's new home at 48 Wall Street, appropriately the former headquarters of the Bank of New York. The bank was founded by Alexander Hamilton in 1784.

"The Many Legacies of Alexander Hamilton" is the title of Martin's presentation. Martin is the co-editor of and contributor to "The Many Faces of Alexander Hamilton: Life and Legacy of America's Most Elusive Founding Father."

During the reception which follows the presentation at 6 p.m., guests will preview the Museum's "Alexander Hamilton Room" exhibit, for which Martin served as curator. The museum has restored the room to its 18th century elegance as a permanent tribute to Hamilton. A panel within the exhibit is dedicated to Hamilton College. It explains Alexander Hamilton's participation as a trustee for the original school founded in 1793 and named Hamilton College in 1812. The Hamilton exhibit is part of the museum's series of permanent exhibitions about U.S. financial markets and financial history.

Tickets to this event start at $100 and include annual museum membership. For additional information on the event, please contact Kristin Aguilera at 212-908-4695 or kaguilera@financialhistory.org.
