To commemorate Martin Luther King Jr. Day Hamilton College will present the play The Meeting, by Jeff Stetson, on Monday and Tuesday, Jan. 21 and 22. The Meeting is directed by Mark Cryer of Hamilton's Theatre Department and will begin at 7 p.m. following a 6 p.m. dinner in the Fillius Events Barn.

A two-person drama, The Meeting depicts the imagined meeting of two of the most important men of modern times: Malcolm X and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The Meeting takes place in a Harlem hotel on Valentines Day, 1965, before they were assassinated, just three years apart. Portrayed as a dialogue, the two men debate their various approaches to the same social problems by exploring their different philosophies.

Produced in 1989, The Meeting received a Louis B. Mayer Award, eight NAACP Theater Awards and six New York AUDELCO nominations. It has been produced throughout Asia, Europe and the United States. It was also aired on American Playhouse in 1989.
The admission to the play is free for all, and the dinner cost is $10 for the public. Due to limited seating reservations are strongly suggested. To make reservations call 315-859-4057.
