Hamilton forward Deborah Elvin scored at 13:55 of the third period, breaking a 1-1 tie, to lead Hamilton to its first-ever varsity hockey victory. Elvin slammed in a rebound off a shot from Continental forward Charlotte Davet. The Hamilton team was upgraded from club to varsity status earlier this year.

Davet scored Hamilton's first-ever varsity goal, at 3:28 of the third period, breaking a scoreless tie. Davet beat Williams goaltender Kim Whiteman high to the stick side, off a nice cross from Elvin, for the historic goal, unleashing a barrage of oranges from the home crowd. But Williams answered at 7:07 of the third as Ephs forward Sharon Rackow scored to tie the game at one, quieting the crowd.

The game remained scoreless after two periods, despite several outstanding scoring chances by both teams. Continental goaltender Isabel Roberts turned aside aside 23 of 24 shots, while Williams goalie KimWhiteman made 26 saves.
