Hamilton's Skenandoa House Mentioned in National Wildlife Federation Report

Hamilton College was named in a new report released by the Campus Ecology program of the National Wildlife Federation earlier this month. The report, "Higher Education in a Warming World: The Business Case for Climate Leadership on Campus," illustrates the ways in which more than 100 colleges and universities are making significant cuts in CO2 emissions while reaping financial, educational and other benefits.

The report mentions Hamilton's Skenandoa House in its section on geothermal energy. A geothermal system was added to the historic student residence hall during renovation, resulting in 60 percent less energy consumed per square foot. In its first year, the renewed facility paid off the difference between the costs for installing a geothermal system versus a traditional heating system.
