Sculptor Helaman Rolfe Ferguson '62 (on the left, with admiring classmate Ralph Oman) stands proudly in front of his seven-foot high, 6,212 lb. work in his Baltimore, Md. studio the day before he shipped it to Macalester College in St. Paul, Minn.  Based on the mathematical formula for a triply punctured torus, the monumental work  (sculpted from black diorite, a dense and fine-grained stone) is titled "Invisible Handshake II."
