Herb Hand ’90 recently joined the University of Texas football coaching staff as their new co-offensive coordinator and offensive line coach. Former Hamilton College football star Hand, a Westmoreland, N.Y. native and a veteran offensive line coach, has helped coordinate numerous dynamic offenses in his 27 years of coaching.
As a three-year starter on the offensive line for the Continentals, Hand served as team captain and earned All-New England Small College Athletic Conference honors in 1989.
A three-time finalist for Offensive Line Coach of the Year by Football Scoop, Hand was also co-coordinator for an offense that led the nation in total offense for two consecutive years at Tulsa. In addition, Hand has coached five Freshman All-Americans. Recently Hand worked as offensive line coach at Auburn University.

In an article by The Observer-Dispatch, Texas head coach Tom Herman said that Hand “came strongly recommended by coaches he worked with and is a tremendous addition to our staff.”
On the University of Texas Longhorn’s website Hand issued a statement: “We are extremely excited and honored to be joining the Longhorn family. The opportunity to come to Austin, to work with Coach Herman and the Texas staff, to be a part of the history and tradition at the University of Texas, it was one we could not pass up.”
