 Lisa Trivedi.
Professor of History Lisa Trivedi recently hosted a virtual talk by Jorrit Britschgi, director of the Rubin Museum of Art in New York. The conversation was part of a new initiative of ASIANetwork, a consortium of 170 liberal arts colleges with Asian Studies Programs of which Hamilton is a part.

Home to one of the finest collections of Himalayan art and artifacts in the world, the Rubin has used the COVID-19 pandemic to extend its efforts to make art spaces more accessible to a wider public both through digital initiatives and new forms of curation.

Britschgi spoke about a new endeavor at the Rubin which seeks to bring the pedagogical strategies of liberal arts colleges to the practices of art museums. In the Rubin’s Himalayan Art Project, the museum hopes to draw liberal arts faculty into curation as partners and send out its exhibitions to liberal arts campuses.
