Associate Professor of Art Robert Knight recently participated in an interdisciplinary virtual workshop on “Storytelling as Research: Unsettling the Cultural Politics of Diversity through Filmmaking.” The event was presented by the Narratives Research Group, part of the Centre for Migration Studies at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver.
In a roundtable titled “Postmigrant Narratives I,” Knight discussed two documentaries — Strangers in a Strange Land, a film about the Refugee Tales project and solidarity walk in the U.K., and Coming of Age: Stories of Growing Up in Utica, NY, about the local Central New York area, home to one of the largest refugee populations in the U.S.
