Director of International Student Services Omobonike Odegbami recently started her second year-long term as a coach for NAFSA, the Association of International Educators. She has been chosen to coach the Region X cohort for NAFSA’s 2025 Academy Class. NAFSA encompasses 11 regions; Region X includes New York and New Jersey.
According to the NAFSA website, a coach’s role is to “guide and support participants throughout the year-long Academy program.” Each coach works with six trainees, helping them develop learning plans and guide them as they navigate the world of international education, including NAFSA.
The organization was founded in 1948 as the National Association of Foreign Student Advisers. Today, it is “the world’s largest nonprofit association dedicated to international education and exchange,” and has more than 11,000 members and international educators at some 4,300 institutions, in more than 170 countries.
