Thomas Porter (Sakokwenionkwas - “The One Who Wins”), founder, spokesperson and spiritual leader of the Mohawk Community of Kanatsiohareke, will present a lecture about Iroquois teaching and the oral tradition on Tuesday, April 19, at 4:10 p.m., in the Red Pit, KJ. The lecture is free and open to the public.

Porter is the leader of the Mohawk Community of Kanatsiohareke, located in the Mohawk Valley near Fonda, N.Y.. As a Bear Clan elder, he has served as a political and spiritual leader of the Mohawk Nation, the director of the Akwesasne Freedom School, a Mohawk language teacher, and has received an honorary doctorate of laws degree from Trent University.
