"Write on: Maurice Isserman," an interview of history professor Maurice Isserman, appeared on the Viewpoints page of the Observer-Dispatch on Sunday, Oct. 5. The article was part of a series of profiles of frequent letter contributors to the paper. Isserman discussed the reasons he wrote letters. "The war in Iraq was sold to the American public by a calculated campaign of deceit and hysteria by the Bush administration that, unfortunately, the news media largely bought into at the time. When our government can't be relied on to tell the truth, and the media doesn't live up to its responsibilities, ordinary people have to step up and speak truth to power." The article also included a few paragraphs about Isserman's new book Fallen Giants, co-authored with University of Rochester history professor Stewart Weaver.
On Sunday, Oct. 5, The New York Times Book Review listed Fallen Giants as an "editors' pick" of the week.
