A panel discussion to commemorate the life of Martin Luther King, Jr. on the 40th anniversary of his death will feature historians and community advocates including Maurice Isserman, James L. Ferguson Professor of History. Other participants are Utica College professor Paul Young, Mohawk Valley Community College professor David Katz, Reverend Father Fred Daley, Reverend Mary Webster, and Reverend Tenolian Bell.

The event is being sponsored by a group of community organizations including the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People - Oneida County Branch, the Mohawk Valley Peace Coalition, the Mohawk Valley Pax Christi, the United Nations Association of the Upper Mohawk Valley and the Social Action Committee of the Unitarian Universalist Church in Utica. It is being held at the Cosmopolitan Center at 1430 Elm Street in Utica at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 4. The event is free and open to the public.
