Jaime Volker '05  has been named the recipient of the Terry Walker Scholarship by the Classical Association of the Empire States (CAES).  The award will be presented at the end of October during the Fall meeting of CAES in Binghamton.

The Terry Walker Scholarship is awarded to a New York State high school graduate or to a student currently enrolled in a university or college in New York State, who has completed at least the sophomore year in college. Preference is given to a student who is preparing to teach Latin on the elementary or secondary level. Up to $2000 is awarded as a one-year grant.

CAES is a not-for-profit professional organization of teachers and professors of ancient Latin and Greek, which seeks to advance interest in, and the study of the classical languages and civilizations in the schools and colleges of New York State. CAES also strives to meet the professional needs of all teachers of the classical languages. 

Volker, a classics major at Hamilton, is the daughter of Elaine and John Volker of Tonawanda.
