
Professor of Philosophy Marianne Janack was an invited speaker at a symposium on Philosophy as a Transitional Genre hosted by the Stony Brook University Philosophy Department from May 1-3.
Janack's paper "Writing Philosophy, Writing Literature" was about Richard Rorty's engagement with the work of Jacques Derrida addressing the question of the philosophy's relationship with literature. Janack was also appointed to a two-year term as an inaugural member of the executive board of a new scholarly society dedicated to Rorty's work and legacy.
