
Jayne Cortez and the Firespitters will perform their unique fusion of poetry, jazz and blues on Wednesday, April 8, at 6:30 p.m. in the Fillius Events Barn at Hamilton. It is free and open to the public.
Cortez is the author of 12 books of poetry and performer of her poems with music on nine recordings. Her poems have been published in anthologies, journals, and magazines such as Postmodern American Poetry, Daughters of Africa, Poems for the Millennium, Mother Jones, and The Jazz Poetry Anthology. She is the recipient of awards from the New York Foundation on the Arts, the National Endowment for the Arts, the International African Festival Award, the Langston Hughes Award, and the American Book Award.
