Associate Professor of sociology at theUniversity of Seattle Jodi O'Brien will discuss "Passionate Pursuits: theRe-enchantment of Higher Education," on Thursday, Feb. 26 at 8 p.m., in theFillius Events Barn, Beinecke Student Activities Village. The talk is part ofthe President's Focus Series on Civility, Diversity and Conflict Resolution andis free and open to the public.

O'Brien teaches courses in methodology, theory, social psychology andsexuality and has written and lectured extensively on the cultural politics oftransgressive identities and communities.

She also is the co-editor of The Production of Reality: Essays andReadings in Social Interactions (1997) and Practicing Inequalities:Everyday Hierarchies of Difference which will be published later thisyear.
