Alfred Kelly, the Edgar B. Graves Professor of History, published a review of Peter Paret’s Clausewitz in His Time: Essays in the Cultural and Intellectual History of Thinking about War in the current issue of the Canadian Journal of History.
Paret, the author or co-author of several books on military history, has studied Prussian general and military theorist Carl von Clausewitz for more than 50 years. In this book, published by Berghahn in 2014, Paret presents four of his recent essays on Clausewitz, along with two news ones.
Kelly said that although Clausewitz in His Time is not for everyone, “specialists in German history…will profit from these mature reflections from one of the master historians of his generation.”
