Their study, "Black, White, Brown and Cajun: The Racial Dynamics of the 2003 Louisiana Gubernatorial Election," argues that ethnic bias was significant in the surprising and narrow defeat of Republican Bobby Jindal by Democrat Kathleen Blanco. In the article, Jindal is quoted as saying, "I don't believe the people of Louisiana made their decision based on the color of skin."
