Philip Klinkner, the James S. Sherman Professor of Government, co-authored an essay published in the spring issue of Dædalus, the journal of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. “Barack Obama and American Racial Politics,” was written with Rogers M. Smith of the University of Pennsylvania and Desmond S. King of the University of Oxford.
Founded in 1955 and published quarterly, each issue of Dædalus focuses on a theme, with essays on topics such as judicial independence, the global nuclear future, mass incarceration and the economy. The current issue features essays by 22 prominent social scientists on topics of “Race, Inequality and Culture.”
