Roberta Krueger, the Burgess Professor of French, presented a paper at the International Congress for Medieval Studies at Western Michigan University on May 12.
“Other Bodies, Other Rooms: Moving Forward with Feminism in Medieval French Studies” provided an overview of the scholarship of E.J. Burns. Burns, along with Krueger and Beth Robertson, co-founded the Medieval Feminist Newsletter (now the on-line peer-reviewed Medieval Feminist Forum) and the Society for Medieval Feminist Scholarship more than 30 years ago.
In her paper, Krueger also reflected on the climate for women and the place of feminist activism in the academy from the 1980s to the present.
