Assistant Professor of Sociology Jaime Kucinskas' review of Religion and Progressive Activism: New Stories about Faith and Politics (2017, NYU Press) has been released online by the Review of Religious Research journal. The book maps out and raises awareness of the prevalence, promise, and challenges faced by progressive religious activists in America.
In contrast to the Religious Right and the secular left, which dominate domestic and international media accounts, progressive religious activists are particularly effective at building coalitions among diverse groups of people. Yet, much of their work remains invisible to the public due to its varied nature and often subtle public connections to religion.
