The Foliated Room, a solo exhibition by Professor of Art Katharine Kuharic, opens at P·P·O·W on Dec. 15 with an opening reception from 6 to 8 p.m. at the gallery, located at 390 Broadway in Lower Manhattan. The show, which runs through Jan. 27, features works depicting flora and fauna in an examination of the struggle between life and death. It is Kuharic’s fifth solo exhibition with the gallery.

According to a P·P·O·W exhibition announcement, The Foliated Room includes some pieces from the 1990s as well as new paintings, highlighting “Kuharic’s decades-long visual examination of mortality, sexuality, and connection to nature through her meticulous technical approach, multilayered symbolism, and highly keyed palette.”

Kuharic notes that the exhibition references her relationship to Hamilton in the flora and fauna, sourced from the college cemetery, that populate the works.

P·P·O·W is open Tuesday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
