Associate Professor of Sociology Jaime Kucinskas presented results from her new book manuscript, The Loyalty Trap (under contract, Columbia University Press) at the University of Chicago's Sociology Department on Oct. 4.
Her talk discussed the ethical binds senior civil servants devoted to the core ethical obligations of public administration faced under some political leaders with autocratic and authoritarian tendencies in some parts of the government under the Trump administration. Kucinskas explained their varied responses as deeply rooted in who they worked with and their locations in the government.
