Professor of Cinema and New Media Studies Scott MacDonald participated in a Futures Seminar at the Zanvyl Krieger School of Arts and Sciences at Johns Hopkins University, on Nov. 18 and 19. He was one of three guests invited to the seminar. The others were Pamela Wojcik from Notre Dame and Jerome Christiansen from the University of California, Irvine.
The guests were asked to provide members of the film and media studies department with guidance and suggestions for strategic planning as the department moves ahead. Each guest made a presentation, followed by in-depth discussion with members of the faculty and the Dean of Arts and Sciences Katherine Newman. MacDonald stressed the importance of a physical place for cinema, specifically a theater designed and run by the film and media studies faculty in the interests of developing in-theater sophistication among faculty and students.
