The Board of Trustees of Christian Brothers Academy has appointed Matthew Keough '04 as principal of the institution. The decision was made this summer to transition to a president and principal leadership model for the upcoming academic year. CBA is a private, Catholic, college preparatory school located in Syracuse, N.Y. This past year the school was named as one of the Top 100 Catholic High Schools in America.

Keough has taught mathematics at CBA since his arrival there in 2004. He has served as the chair of the mathematics department, chair and representative of faculty and staff on CBA’s Board of Trustees and chair of the faculty and staff mission and ministry team. Aside from his prominent role in the school’s academic and administrative interests, he has also coached basketball and baseball. In his new role as principal, Keough will oversee the day-to-day management of the school and will provide leadership and council to faculty and students.

Keough was a mathematics major at Hamilton. During his time there, he played and was the captain of the varsity baseball team, and he participated in both the Career Center and Admissions volunteer programs. After graduation, he went on to receive his master’s degree in educational leadership from Le Moyne College. Keough has worked extensively with Lasallian formation programs, an initiative designed to bring education to impoverished children around the world. He was selected as the “Lasallian Educator of the Year” for the 2014-2015 academic year.
