Associate Professor of Biology Mike McCormick co-organized a symposium on “Carbon Dynamics and the Biogeochemical Cycling of Major and Minor Elements” at the national meeting of the American Chemical Society held April 7-11 in New Orleans.
McCormick presented results of work conducted by Hamilton students Andrew Seraichick ’13, Elizabeth Huebner ’13, Elizabeth Bucceri ’11 and many collaborators. The research looked at the impact of ice-shelf loss on the geochemistry and microbial community composition in sediments from the Larsen A embayment on the east coast of the Antarctic Peninsula.
