The Margaret Bundy Scott Field House on the campus of Hamilton College will be the setting for a first-round game of the 2003 NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Championship. Hamilton College will host Colby-Sawyer College (NH) on Thursday, March 6 at 7 p.m. The winner of that game will advance and face St. John Fisher College on Saturday, March 8, at 7 p.m. in Rochester. Tickets for Thursday's game will be $4 for adults and $3 for senior citizens, students and children five years and up. Children under five will get in for free.
Hamilton College earned an automatic bid into this year's tournament by winning the UCAA Tournament last weekend. The Continentals defeated Union College, 74-70 in the championship game. The Continentals are 21-5 overall this season and make their seventh appearance in the NCAA Tournament since the NESCAC began allowing teams to participate in the NCAA Championships back in 1995-96. It's the first time since 1999-2000 that the Continentals have appeared in the NCAA championships.
Colby-Sawyer qualified for this year's tournament by winning the Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament last weekend, defeating rival Endicott College, 73-65 in the championship game. Colby-Sawyer enters Thursday's game with a 21-6 overall record and are making their third straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
