The Hamilton Men's Hockey team continued their tradition of volunteering through their involvement in the Daniel Highland Barden Mudfest in Deansboro, N.Y. for the third year.
The Mudfest, held this year on April 25, was created by Deansboro natives after the Sandy Hook massacre in December 2012. One of the organizer's family members lives in Sandy Hook, Conn., and her daughter was inside the school that day. She escaped physically unharmed, her neighbor and buddy Daniel Barden, did not.
The first Mudfest was held in April, 2013 and drew 1,000 participants, 100 volunteers and many more spectators to the 5K mud run. Hamilton hockey players volunteered all day long, stationing themselves along the course, cheering runners along and ensuring their safety.
Since then, team has consistently volunteered at the event. Mudfest organizers appreciate the partnership with the Hamilton Men's Hockey Team in this endeavor, and their community involvement.
