Zhuoyi Wang

Invited by universities in the U.S., the UK, and China, Professor of East Asian Languages and Literatures Zhuoyi Wang has given eight online talks this semester.

On Dec. 1, Wang gave a talk titled “Between the World Ship and the Spaceship: Planetarianism, Hollywood, and the Iceberg-Shaped Story of The Wandering Earth (2019)” at Georgia Institute of Technology.

In November, he delivered a talk titled “From Mulan (1998) to Mulan (2020): Orientalist Imagination, Feminist Intervention, and a Compromised Progress” at SOAS University of London. From October to November, Wang also gave a series of six talks on Chinese-language and Hollywood cinemas at Henan University.

Volume With Wang’s Chapter Recognized with NETPAC Award

The Routledge Companion to Asian Cinemas, which features a chapter by Professor of East Asian Languages and Literatures Zhuoyi Wang, has been honored with the NETPAC 1st Aruna Vasudev Award for Best Book on Asia. The award, presented by the Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema (NETPAC), was announced on Feb. 18 at the 31st Vesoul International Film Festival of Asian Cinemas.
