After taking a music class together, Neuroscience/Dance major Ogihara asked Mathematics/Music major Christiana if he’d be interested in composing a piece for her performance. He agreed, and the collaboration began. Ogihara sent videos of her rehearsals to Christiana, and using math rules and games, he began to generate pitch and rhythm.
For her performance, Ogihara selected a Japanese folk song that translates to “cherry blossoms,” and Christiana used that as his source material to create the composition, which Ogihara calls a “testament to Hamilton’s open curriculum.” Watch the video to learn more.
