Claire Terraillon

My name is Claire Terraillon and I'm a junior majoring in economics. I'm from the south of France and I'm interning at Miramax. I'm very excited about my internship. The fun of working on films, and even sometimes with scripts, makes the theory of finance much more entertaining and less tedious. The people are really interesting, and they seem to enjoy explaining their work and helping me to participate in it. Last week, I mainly worked on preparing and sending wires and payment requests and used the SAP program. I even sometimes give French lessons to one of them!

My first impressions of New York City have been extremely positive. The first aspect that came to my mind is the simple idea of varieties, especially of physical landscape. Before I arrived in the city, I pictured New York as Wall Street: tall and very modern buildings with little green area between them. However, when I went to Central Park with Zara (another girl on the program), I found myself in a totally different environment, completely isolated from the modern skyscrapers, which reminded me of the parks in London. Then we went to Chinatown and it was extremely funny to find myself again in Beijing or Shanghai. Finally, every evening, Zara and I walk on the waterfront in Battery Park (right outside our building) and watch New York City by night (so different then during the day): calm and restful.
