New York City for me was a change from the sedentary life at Hamilton. The assortment of people, cultures, and lights is both intimidating and interesting. As a senior at Hamilton and a student from Pakistan, I had spent most of the last three years up on the Hill so it was a great break for me. I have been in New York since the summer but I got time to explore the city more in August. Although I got a bit of time to relax before I start my internship at Treasury Strategies, I am actually excited to start working now, to get into a routine and to start getting busy. Of course, I have been doing my own exploring when I get the time. The big news in New York over the last week was the Republican National Convention. While strolling in Union Square Park, I saw the bikers' convention last week as thousands of cyclists went through New York in a peaceful protest. It was great to see that people were able to express their opinions through peaceful demonstrations and still make a major city like New York get up and take notice. I am hoping to do a lot more in the city as the semester goes by…this is just the start of a great adventure for me.
