A tall, cool jug of water sat upon the table – enticingly refreshing, deliciously pure. Claire reached out eagerly to her glass, was about to take a gulp… "WAIT. What's that?" Drip, drip; something vaguely resembling water leaked from the sealing fan into the said enticing jug of water. We all paled and edged away from our glasses. The waiter apologized profusely and we all smiled slightly uncomfortably at what was the crowning glory of NYC program orientation, which ended with dinner in Chinatown. Surely a quintessential NY experience we all assured ourselves, and an important lesson in itself – remain wary of drinking water as it may just issue from various ceiling electronics.

In all seriousness, it has been incredible – in every sense of the word – actually residing in NYC. From the naked protestors, to the fantastic view from the apartment, to the dogs, and yes, the excellent Chinese food accompanied by dubious water, it has been a great ride. There are a plethora of opportunities at our doorstep – social, intellectual, or simply physical. One truly appreciates the meanings of the words 'metropolitan,' and 'global,' by the sheer extent of the city and the variety of languages and cultures that one encounters. Important lessons are being learned – whether they concern finance, the subway, or just being suitably suspicious of unknown sources of water. Essentially, it is utterly incredible and perfectly fabulous to be living in this city!
