Hamilton’s Program in New York City recently enjoyed an outing to the New York City Ballet's production of "Music Director's Choice" – a fabulous combination of pieces selected by the newly appointed music director Andrew Litton.
The three pieces selected honor composers Samuel Barber, Leonard Bernstein and George Gershwin. These were complemented by movement combinations choreographed by George Balanchine, Peter Martins and Jerome Robbins. The intersectional and contrasting pieces challenged the modern canon of balletic technique and application. As a dance major, I was struck by the innovative and daring pieces coupled together on the world’s grandest stage.
The group enjoyed the performances of principal dancers Jared Angle, Ask la Cour, Sara Mearns, Megan Fairchild, Tiler Peck, Daniel Ulbricht and Andrew Veyette.
