Students in Hamilton’s Program in New York City toured Brooklyn’s DUMBO (Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass) neighborhood on April 2.
They studied deindustrialization and gentrification at work in what was once a center of manufacturing and now is home to upscale condos and designer cookie stores. Publius Virgilius Rogers Professor of American History Maurice Isserman, this semester’s program director, accompanied the group.
