At the invitation of the Norges teknisk-naturvitenskapelige universitet (NTNU) or the Norwegian University of Science and Technology at Trondheim, Professor of French John C. O'Neal participated on the doctoral dissertation jury for a Ph.D. candidate in French on Feb. 11.
The jury consisted of three members and O'Neal served as second "opponent." He was asked to question the candidate for 60 minutes about his thesis on the cognitive and rhetorical function of mental images in Jean-Jacques Rousseau's Émile. The candidate successfully defended his work and thereby completed all of the official requirements for his doctoral degree.
