Peter Cameron '82 and William Williams '73, have been awarded John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation fellowships. This year's fellowships, worth a total of $6.75-million, were awarded to 184 distinguished scientists, scholars, and artists chosen from among more than 3,200 applicants. The winners of this year's competition, the foundation's 79th, represent 89 colleges and universities.

Cameron, who received the fellowship for study of fiction, is currently a member of the guest faculty, graduate writing program, at Sarah Lawrence College. Cameron's book, The City of Your Final Destination (Farrar, Straus and Giroux), was among five books selected as finalists for the 2003 PEN/Faulkner Award for Fiction, America's largest peer-juried prize for fiction.

Williams, who was awarded a fellowship for photography, is a professor of fine arts and curator of photographs at Haverford College.
